Antelope Cliffs Over Rippling Water

I captured this vertical photograph during the peaceful morning hours at Antelope Canyon on Lake Powell in Page, Arizona. Tall walls of cream, orange, and deep red sandstone stand high over the gently rippling water, drawing the eye upward and showcasing the incredible height and narrow beauty of this remarkable canyon. The calm lake reflected the warm colors of the cliffs.

This water side of Antelope Canyon is part of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, where visitors can experience the canyon from a completely different perspective than the famous slot canyon hike. The soft morning light illuminated the layered sandstone, revealing its textures, intricate patterns, and graceful curves that have been shaped over time by water, wind, and the elements.

One of the things I enjoyed most was arriving before the lake became busy. With only gentle ripples moving across the water, the canyon felt quiet and undisturbed, allowing me to fully appreciate the stillness of the moment. The combination of towering sandstone cliffs, shimmering reflections, and peaceful water makes this one of my favorite views in the American Southwest.
