Piece description from the artist
From Gabrielle's Rustbelt of America Series. She recalls that while documenting these rustic landscapes, she discovered some very ominous sites. Some abandoned, some active and some protected by watchmen who weren't keen on people using cameras.
Gabrielle Senza is an internationally recognized, multi-disciplinary artist whose work is included in the collections of institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, MoMA New York, Lifetime Entertainment, JP Morgan Chase and Fidelity Investments, among numerous others. Her work has been exhibited in solo and traveling group shows throughout the U.S. and abroad.
The terrain that Gabrielle explores through her work – be it installation, video, painting, photography, sculpture or drawing – is guided by intuition, deep listening and the connection to the emotional charge of a place, internal or external. This process aids in guiding her personal journey and surviving the sometimes ineffable past.
