Amber Lights On Bob Kerrey Bridge

A twilight night view standing on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, where I paused beneath one of the towering pillars glowing in rich yellow and orange light. Looking upward, the cables stretch into the night sky, creating strong lines that frame the structure against the fading blue tones of evening. In the distance, part of the Omaha skyline sparkles softly, while I stood above the flowing Missouri River, with the Council Bluffs side of Council Bluffs just behind me.

The shifting bridge lights give the entire structure a warm, almost golden atmosphere, changing the mood of the scene as it moves through color transitions during the night. In this moment, the pillar glowed in a vibrant mix of amber and orange, reflecting softly into the surroundings and onto the river below.

This 3,000-foot cable-stayed pedestrian bridge curves like a snake across the water, linking two cities and two states in a single sweeping arc. Even in the stillness of night, there’s a subtle sense of movement, if someone runs, bikes, or scoots across it, you can feel a gentle sway beneath your feet, adding a quiet reminder that the bridge is alive with motion and connection.
