Piece description from the artist
"Alpine Moment" evokes the sensation of glimpsing a hidden landscape through vertical veils of light. Pale, icy bands create the effect of looking through shutters or falling snow, partially obscuring a lively terrain of shifting blues, greens, ochres, and grays. The underlying forms suggest mountains, stones, or drifting clouds, layered with a rhythmic play of abstraction. The work captures the fleeting beauty of an alpine scene—both concealed and revealed, distant yet immediate.
A native of Washington, D.C. and third-generation artist, Clare's training includes a degree in Fine Art and years of printmaking study at the Corcoran College of Art. Clare’s work has been included in group and solo shows in the in the US and overseas.
Clare's current body of work is united by the theme of ecology and relationships. Through semi abstract nature-based paintings and prints, her work explores the way hope and a sense of connection can be found even during anxious or uncertain times.
According to the artist, "Each project is a challenge for me — finding the delicate balance between process and feeling.”
