Piece description from the artist
I love to capture the weathered and worn details of abandoned buildings. This corrugated metal is the siding on an abandoned flour mill in Bozeman, Montana. This striking black and white photograph captures a close-up, high-contrast look at a weathered piece of industrial history. An antique metal box stands as the central focus of the composition. A shield-shaped emblem on the face of the box is clearly embossed with the text "ALERT HARDINGE WATCHMAN'S PORTABLE CLOCK STATION 15." These small boxes were part of an historic security systems used by warehouses in the early 20th century. Strong, direct sunlight hits the station from the upper-left, casting a dramatic, dark shadow to its right that tracks across the deep ridges of the metal backdrop. The monochrome tones beautifully emphasize the gritty, aged textures and rustic character of this old structure.
