About the Artist

Arturo Mallmann was born in 1953 in Montevideo, Uruguay, soon after he was born his family moved to Argentina where he grew up. Unable to learn by following other peoples instructions, he self-educated himself by reading incessantly and following his own curiosity. He spent many years as a young adult wandering around Latin America, The US, Canada and Europe, working in all sort of jobs to survive while writing poetry and short stories. About the Artist

Arturo Mallmann was born in 1953 in Montevideo, Uruguay, soon after he was born his family moved to Argentina where he grew up. Unable to learn by following other peoples instructions, he self-educated himself by reading incessantly and following his own curiosity. He spent many years as a young adult wandering around Latin America, The US, Canada and Europe, working in all sort of jobs to survive while writing poetry and short stories. In 1983 he gave up writing and started painting. He moved to the United States in 1988. Since then he has been showing his work in several galleries around the United States. In the year 2000 he participated in the show "Made in California" at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. His work belongs to important collectors from the US, Europe and Latin America, including The University of Central Florida, and The University of Southern California. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
