Warhol lightweight

Warhol Lightweight

Piece description from the artist

“Warhol Lightweight” is one of my latest works, and in the first series painted in 2019. Referencing the iconic picture of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat in Everlast boxing gloves, the series celebrates two of my biggest artistic inspirations.

After I cut the stencil of Andy Warhol, which is 24×48, I decided to make a series where each Warhol portrait would be a different color scheme and different size. Alongside each, I created a complimentary portrait of Basquiat. The paintings can be purchased individually or displayed as a set.

The name “Lightweight” was decided because this is the smallest set of paintings in the series. The other sets, titles “Andy/Basquiat Middleweight” and “Andy/Basquiat Heavyweight” are 24”x36” and 24”x48” respectively.
