The Golden Hour

Piece description from the artist

The Golden Hour is that time of day when the sun hovers at the horizon before slipping away. The slanting light casts a gilding over the water and clouds. This painting is on deep stretchers and is wired for hanging. Pallette is cadmium yellow, blue-green and blue-violet. There is a great deal of layered texture in the paint, but the surface is smoothed by thin layers of paint mixed with cold wax medium.

About Kari Feuer

Leland, NC

Kari Feuer has been painting landscapes for about twenty-five years and continues to explore different ways to portray the play of light on the earth, the shifting weather and the movement of water. She paints both representationally and abstractly, with knives and large brushes, and bases her paintings on observation of nature, paired with imagination and inventive color.
She grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and lived for many years in New York’s Hudson Valley, and living now in North Carolina, is inspired by the skies and water. She has been teaching painting in several venues and her work has been shown in many galleries in the Northeast, collected on three continents and received national recognition.
