Reddish Dragonfly

Reddish Dragonfly

Piece description from the artist

Dragonflies come to marsh in the springtime to mate and lay eggs. There are several species locally that are very colorful and harmless to humans. These beautiful creatures fly around the marshes eating other insects such as mosquitoes, horse flies, and deer flies. I have had them land on me, sitting there waiting for a mosquito to come along. Like a guard dog, ready to protect me from a vicious attack. They are as fun to watch as they are to photograph and it is easy to spend several hours photographing one as it takes its prey.
