Pandemic dreams

Pandemic Dreams

Piece description from the artist

I love living in Miami. It’s a complex, exciting place. Its allure of escapism through luxury and tropical beaches is only a partial mirage. Climate change and climate gentrification are daily topics of discussion here, as climate catastrophes occurring all over the globe amplify this reality. Add the psychological impact resulting from the pandemic, social inequity, political discord, and the bizarre way companies observe our thinking and behavior through technology, and you have the recipe for my series of paintings that lean towards the surreal. Spheres (the circle symbolizes the self, according to Carl Jung) are estranged from one another, often hiding in various architectural settings. Architecture functions as a kind of container and a stage. Sometimes these places are completely deserted. Color perseveres. The paintings stem from these ideas, but are more.
