Piece description from the artist
After a record snowstorm in early 2022 up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, I made my way down to the shore of Lake Tahoe at Camp Richardson and saw these beautiful ducks hanging out in some very cold water. For this shot, I had to stand on the sand, and hold my camera down at my ankles in order to be eye level with the duck. A bit like shooting from the hip, but much lower!
Danny Anderson has no formal training in photography, but he makes up for what he lacks in training with a unique perception of the world around him.
From the beginning, Danny's approach was simple; when he photographs a location, Danny attempts to capture not just what it looks like, but what it feels like to be there. In doing so, contrasts, composition, dynamics and drama have become an integral part of his process and consideration while making artwork. Danny is always searching for everyday beauty so he can allow the day-to-day imagery to distract and inspire him. Danny refers to this process as "natural distraction."
Danny currently lives and works in Brentwood, California.
