Piece description from the artist

I get very excited about construction and demolition as subject matter, especially when it is close to home. The big digging caterpillar machines remind me a bit of the dinosaur specimens I gestured and for which I fabricated mounts at the American Museum of Natural History. DEMOLITION YELLOW was painted outside on a bitter, overcast middle-March, 2009 Sunday afternoon with the smell of rain in the air. The site is at the heart of the Journal Square neighborhood of Jersey City, NJ.
