Growing up in an atmosphere of a family suppressing emotions, the rich, varied artwork in my home as a child became the way I was able to get in touch with a range of emotions. Visual representation “spoke” to me and reached that Higher part of me. Spiritually, at the age of 12, when a Rousseau painting at the Modern Museum of Art in New York flooded me with courage, I knew that I wanted to be able to reach other people in the same way.
