Its Biology

Its Biology

I courted chance in a series of paintings by repeating a process of accident, layering, and removal. I laid the canvases on the floor and poured paint on them, letting it splatter, pool, harden, and crack as physics would dictate. I contributed to the additive process by painting with a brush, adding more layers, or I subtracted layers by ripping and cutting. I like to describe the result as topographical maps and geographic layers of painting events. This series looks great when hung as a group.
