Cirques of the Ear Canal

In the spirit of working with artists Sophie McMahan and Patricia Monigold, I chose to explore the face. Instead of handling the face in a more traditional portrait style, I approach it as a landscape. The close-up images of the face remove the subject from a specific environment, and in a sense turn the face itself into a quasi environment. These pieces invoke the sometimes terrifying, yet beautiful power of intimacy by the focusing on color relationships and surface texture.
