Alicia

My work operates within a tradition of black abstract artists and attempts to further the modernist idea of Post-Black, which explicitly has to do with contemporary African American art. I am abstracting appropriated racial stereotypes from their specific social context, in an attempt to transcend their negative associations. This is a jazz inspired portrait of Alicia Keys.
